Wow, what a convention! Around 100 Exchangites and guests attended the 84th Annual Lincolnland Convention in Naperville on June 10th - 13th. We were joined by Immediate Past National President Floyd Culver and his wife Ann from Defiance, Ohio, as well as Region 3 Vice President Katie Smith from Owatonna, Minnesota.

We'll start with a few business reminders regarding the Lincolnland District Convention to be held June 10th - 13th at the Naperville Holiday Inn Select. First, please ask your club delegates to make their hotel reservations as soon as possible. Lincolnland Faces and Places: North Chicago is planning a fundraiser with the Harlem Ambassadors, who have entertained on basketball courts in 48 states and 20 countries.

Rantoul Exchange has been very busy making fiscal year end plans. We had elections of officers on April 14th with a full slate of welcomed volunteers ready to serve. On May 12th, we will honor approximately 22 eighth graders from area schools during our Annual Junior High Outstanding Leadership Awards Banquet.

On March 27th, 1911, the first Exchange Club was formed in Detroit, Michigan, by Charles Berkey and twelve businessmen. Speaking of the Link, the next deadline for submitting information and news for publication is Thursday, April 1st. National News: National Exchange Club President Claude Carmack and Statue of Responsibility (SOR) Foundation President/CEO Daniel Bolz signed a memorandum of understanding on February 20th to define a strategic alliance between the two organizations.

Mattoon holds three major fundraisers. As a result of their fundraising events last year, Mattoon disbursed over $10,000 back to the community. Mattoon won the 2009 National Exchange Club Award for Best Website, which you can visit at www.mattoonexchange.org.

Awards, Awards, Awards: Lincolnland DSA/CSA Chair Lou Molitor has distributed nomination forms (attached) for our district's DSA (Distinguished Service) and CSA (Contributing Service) awards. Exchange Trivia: You may know that the National Exchange Club was formed on March 27th, 1911, so we'll turn 99 years old in three weeks. Tuesday, February 16th, was a big night for Lincolnland as we formally welcomed the Exchange Club of LMV (Libertyville - Mundelein - Vernon Hills) into our district during their Charter Banquet at Casa Bonita in Libertyville. ALL Aboard? Exchange Club Facts and Figures. Lincolnland District Convention News. The Exchange Club bylaws stipulate that annual club elections be held no earlier than the first meeting in March and no later that the last meeting in April. Mattoon held its 4th Annual Megeff / Exchange Club Double Elimination Pool Tournament on February 13th. The Lake County Exchange Clubs Foundation for the Prevention of Child Abuse Fundraiser will be held at Rink Side Family Entertainment Center in Gurnee Mills Mall from 10 AM to 7 PM on Sunday, February 28th. Exchange Club of Greater Kendall County held a Community Blood Drive on Saturday, February 13th.
